In the 16th century, those who could, collected objects that seemed amazing and other worldly, and displayed them in a special cabinet. When they felt like their lives needed a touch of magic, they could visit their Cabinet of Wonders and be re-infused with the state of wonder generated from these objects.

In today’s modern society, this need for a Cabinet of Wonders is greater than ever. As the  gallery walls themselves become the cabinet, a visit to this exhibit featuring images, object & video, will unite those who see it with the awesome power of possibilities.

I curated this art show at Polvo Gallery in June 2007.

It featured paintings and collages by Jen Besemer, blind drawings and video by Ian Sklarsky, object by Doug Travis, doll creations, cereal boxes and lottery tickets by Billy Roberts, and dwarings by Drew Fernando.

Magicians Benjamin Barnes and Arthur Trace performed at the opening.

As always, the wearing of costumes was strongly encouraged.
